It is a direct marketing technique in which elaborately targeted projections, which are chosen based on buying pattern, profession, location, income, age and other variables, are presented with custom made offers for items or services through normal mail or e-mail. Marketing companies normally ‘rent’ lists of projections from mailing lists, gathering companies who maintain a huge database of names and addresses of projections, divided into categories and sub-categories.
