What does Plastic (card) mean?

A plastic is the name given to actually the whole type of cards which are used for transactions and purchases around the world and which are being mostly issued by banking institutions. Under the umbrella of plastic cards are involved not only the credit/debit cards, but also the different loyalty programs cards, gift cards, telephone calling cards, rewards cards and in general all cards which have a financial transaction/money storage purpose.
